This carrier is designed for those who wish to take their mobility scooter or power wheelchair with them on trips but do not have the room to put the scooter in their car, van or SUV. This carrier′s long ramp allows an able companion to roll the scooter up the ramp. The carrier can be stored in the upright position when not in use and can be stored in multiple tilted positions.
The Versa-Haul Mobility Scooter Carrier allows you to haul your Mobility Scooter without the need for a trailer. Simply slide the carrier into your Class 2, 3, or 4 trailer hitch receiver tube and secure with your hitch pin and clip. The carrier comes with an adapter to enable it to fit a 1-1/4" or a 2" x 2" square receiver. Put your mobility scooter on the carrier and secure it with your tie downs using the tie down slots on the carrier. (Tie-downs not included.) It does not touch the road and does not require light hook-ups, registration, or the added expenses of maintaining a trailer, and it is easier to store. Each Versa-Haul carrier also has a unique locking device which locks it to your vehicle′s hitch, eliminating carrier sway. The Mobility Scooter Carrier is made from high quality steel, and comes with a 1 year warranty. The 60 inch long removable loading ramp is included, and easily locks into different positions with spring pull locks, and stores flat on the carrier as shown in the photo. LIMITATIONS
The Versa-Haul Heavy Duty Anti-Tilt Hitch Bracket fits a 2" square receiver, and will help eliminate carrier and draw bar sway in heavy duty applications.
Simply slide the Hitch Bracket on your carrier or draw bar before inserting the carrier into the receiver tube of your hitch. Put your carrier or draw bar in your hitch and secure it with your hitch pin and clip. (hitch pin and clip not included). Place the Hitch Bracket over your hitch receiver tube so the three bolts align with the carrier and tighten the bolts. This unique locking device locks your carrier or draw bar to your vehicle′s hitch, eliminating sway in heavy duty applications. The Hitch Bracket is made from high quality steel, and comes with a 1 year warranty.
The Versa-Haul Class 3 Hitch Riser will raise your hitch mounted carrier approx 4 inches above the level of your hitch.
On some vehicles your hitch is low. This could cause the tail of the carrier to drag as you are starting to go up a steep incline such as a steep driveway or high sidewalk Simply slide the Hitch Riser into your 2" x 2" square Class 3 trailer hitch receiver tube and secure with your hitch pin and clip. Put your carrier in the top tube of the Hitch Riser and secure it with your hitch pin and clip. (hitch pin and clip not included). The extra rise provided by the Hitch Riser will help keep the tail of your carrier from dragging in extreme conditions as described above. What is a 2" square or class 3 receiver hitch? Your trailer hitch has a 2" square receiver if the inside measurement of the opening on the hitch where the drawbar goes is 2" x 2" as shown in the drawing. Your hitch will accept the products on this website that are made for 2" square receivers such as the Hitch-Mounted carriers fscooters, powerchairs...etc.
If you have a class 2 hitch receiver, it means the square receiver measurement is an inch and a quarter (1.25 " inches)
Most carriers are made for class 3 or 2" receivers hitches. If your hitch is a class 2 hitch receiver, you will need an adaptor to switch the class 2 into a class 3. We sell adaptors with most carriers or you can consult with your local hitch installer/ dealer.
**NEVER exceed your vehicles carrying capacity or trailer hitch capacity. Most Class II hitches are typically rated at 350 lbs, Class III hitches are 500 lbs (Please refer to capacity sticker on the trailer hitch). Some vehicles may require air shocks or other modifications to the vehicles suspension. Please check your owners manual for vehicle hauling capabilities.
